How India can make its economic recovery clean, sustainable post Covid-19

Ever since the harsh strike of Covid, there is a surge of good thinking that’s abuzz and shared on the social media, well apart from the ‘whodunnit’ discourse on Covid.

This articles talks about the golden opportunity for starting the recovery albeit in a ‘clean-slate’ manner. As a consulting firm focused on Sustainability, one of our favourite topics is leap to clean energy. There is a brilliant advice on solarising unelectrified health sub-centres- for primary care that serves a large part of rural India. Apparently this advice has been sent by thought leaders to PM Modi.

The other side of the coin is to take away the fuel subsidies. A large number of companies are taking steps to switch to renewable energy and this just needs a little bit of push. A whopping 83,134 Crore was spent on these subsidies as mentioned in this article in 2018-19, which is seven times more than subsidies for renewable energy.
