Research on Gender and Stereotyping

Our research led by Dr Priyadarshini explored the characteristics associated with managerial success and perception of men and women around it amongst Indian Management students. It is interesting to note that world over, the studies have shown time and again that both male and female managers perceived that traits associated with managerial success were more likely to be held by men than by women (Schein, 1973 from US and many studies from U.S, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, Sweden, Turkey, and China.

Are the times changing? How does Indian management students and managers fare in their attitudes to managerial success and gender. What do women think about the managerial success and gender.

Bridging the gender gap would require significant effort in changing perceptions and attitudes and doing away with the stereotypes. Our research will be published soon. Keep reading updates.
